Abstract
Soil characteristics that can adversely affect the construction are clay soils, because clay soils have high shrinkage properties. Land in Sukodono Subdistrict, Sragen Regency is included in the type of clay which has an LL value of 66.85%, PL 30.84%, PI 36%, percentage of filter pass No. 200 88% and GI of 36. Performed soil stabilization using coconut coir ash and lime with a variation of 5% lime and coconut coir ash 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10%. Soil physical test results in the form of water content, specific gravity, liquid limit, plasticity index and percent pass filter no. 200 has decreased, while the value of the plastic limit, shrinkage limit, has increased. If classified according to AASHTO, the original soil and mixed soil are included in group A-7-5 with the type of clay material with moderate to poor general assessment. According to the USCS classification native soil is included in the CH group which includes non-organic clay soils with high plasticity and mixed soils of coconut coir ash 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10% and lime 5% including MH groups with LLR values> 0.75. The results of Standard Proctor mechanical testing showed that the water content value tends to increase. The CBR value of unsoaked native and mixed soils tends to increase along with the addition of lime and coconut coir ash. The largest unsoaked CBR value occurs in the percentage of lime addition of 5% and coconut coir ash 10%, which is 51%. CBR value is influenced by soil density measured at the maximum dry volume weight value. So the added material of lime and coconut fiber ash has been proven to help improve soil in Bendo Village, Sukodono, Sragen.
