Abstract

One of the water problem that is faced by people is lime content. Water that contain high lime content caused kidney failure if it’s consumed in long period of time. Klaten is one of the area that lots of people suffer from kidney failure. This research intend to know the quality and the effect of three different length of water filter softener cation resin to water quality in Toprayan, Cawas, Klaten. This research was started by making the filter machine with three different length of cation resin filter (5 cm, 10 cm, and 15 cm) then filtering the samples with the machine. After that, the filtered samples were checked the qualities at PDAM laboratory with 13 different parameters. The result were compared to Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia number 32 of 2017.The result showed that the quality of water in Toprayan, Cawas, Klaten before filtering is safe to be consumed. Besides the water can be used as sanitation and hygiene necessity also. The using of cation resin as filtering medium reduce the lime content in water.
