Abstract

This study aims to 1) determine the effectiveness of video in the Geography learning of flood disaster material at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Sragen. 2) to know the improvement in students learning achievement by using video in Geography learning of flood disaster at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Sragen. The type of this research was quantitative research with research design of Nonequivalent control group design with the number of respondent were 44 classes X of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Sragen as the control and experimental classes. The control class was X IPS-2, which amounted to 22 students and the experimental class was X IPS-3, amounted to 22 students. Data collection methods used were interviews, observation, tests, and documentation. Data analysis technique used in this research was using different test (paired samples t-test). The results of this study indicate that 1) video was effective, it can be known after analysis using the Paired Sample t-test obtained t value of -11.085 in control class and -26.974 in experimental class, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, means it was difference using the video Geography for flood disasters in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Sragen. 2) there was an increase on average value in the experimental class. The average acquisition value of the pre-test control class was 50.5 and the post-test value was 60.5 so that the increased in the average value in the control class was 19.8%, while in the experimental class the pre-test average was obtained of 47.6 and post-test value of 82.5 so that the increase in the average value from pre-test to post-test experimental class that is equal to 42.3% it proved that the average value of the experimental class was higher than the increase control class.
