Abstract

Chronic malnutrition or often called stunting is another form of growth failure. Not like the acute one, malnutrition is a condition that has happened for a long time. The causes of stunting include poor nutrition, inexclusive breastfeeding, low birth weight (LBW), economic status, parental education and infectious diseases. Based on the data in the Sukoharjo Health Office, in 2018 there were 39.32% stunting children in the village of Mojorejo. This study aims at determining the relationship of exclusive breastfeeding and protein intake and stunting events in infants in the village of Mojorejo, Sukoharjo Regency. This research used a crossectional study design with research subjects aged 7months-4years. The 58 respondents, who met the criteria, were selected by using the systemic random sampling method. The exclusive breastfeeding data was obtained by filling out questionnaires. The nutritional status data was obtained by measuring the oddlers’ height using microtoice and infantometer compared to age. The test used was the Chi-Square test. The results of exclusive breastfeeding on stunting events showed p = 0.043, OR = 0.300, 95% CI = 0.092-0.981. Therfore, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Mojorejo Village Sukoharjo Regency.
