Abstract

Pentaeritritol (C5H12O4) is a material that is quite important in improving industries in Indonesia such as the paint industry, alkyd resin industry, ester resin and others. The plant is planned to be established in the industrial area of Surabaya, East Java. This plant is designed to meet domestically and does not exclude the possibility of export. The Pentaeritritol plant is designed with a capacity of 25,000 tons / year. The process of making pentaerythritol is carried out in a Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) reactor. The plant operates continuously for 330 days / year. In this process the reaction takes place in a liquid-liquid, irreversible phase, with a temperature of 30oC and a pressure of 2 atm. An exothermic, isothermal reaction so that it needs coolant to keep the temperature inside the reactor at the desired temperature. The reactor output is fed to the evaporator to concentrate the liquid, the evaporator output is fed to the crystallalizer to form crystals as a product with a purity of 99.03% by weight after drying. To support the industrial process, a supporting unit was established, namely a water supply unit of 66,935,911 kg / hour obtained from river water, cooling water supply of 6,845,019 kg / hour, supply of saturated steam of 472,744 kg / hour obtained from a boiler with fuel oil of 0.136 m3 / hour. Needs compressed air 50 m3 / hour. Electricity is obtained from PLN and a generator set of 425 kW in reserve with 0.056 m3 / hr of fuel. This pentaerythritol plant is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organization system. From the economic analysis that has been carried out on this factory, it requires fixed capital of Rp 630,246,046,290 and working capital of Rp 179,824,531,343. profit before tax of Rp 135,513,741,293 per year, after deducting 50% of the profit reaching Rp 67,756,870,646.25 per year. This feasibility analysis gives the result that the return on investment (ROI) before tax is 21.05% and after tax is 10.75%. Pay Out Time (POT) before tax is 3.17 years while after tax is 4.82 years and Shut Down Point (SDP) is 31.38%. Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) of 27.68%. Based on the data above, the pentaerythritol plant concluded that this factory was profitable and feasible to be established.
