Abstract

Unemployment is a problem Unemployment is very influential on the economy and social life of a country's society. The ultimate goal of a country's economic development is basically to increase the prosperity of the people and economic growth so that it is stable and in a state of continuous improvement. If the unemployment rate in a country is relatively high, this will hamper the achievement of the economic development goals that have been dreamed of. This study aimed to find out the effect of variable population, education level, economic growth and inflation on the unemployment rate in Sukoharjo Regency in 1990-2015 and how much influence it has. This type of research is quantitative research by taking secondary data in the form of a periodic series of unemployment in Sukoharjo district from 1990- 2015. The analysis tool used is a multiple linear regression model with the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the population, economic growth, and inflation have a significant influence on unemployment. The level of education does not have a significant effect on unemployment.
