Abstract

Students are students who support higher education in universities or colleges. Students who are active in organizations are called active students. Student activist organizations that have academic hardiness will be able to withstand various academic and organizational pressures, while students with weak academic hardiness will discuss the difficulties of overcoming various academic and organizational pressures. The purpose of this study was to find out the dynamics of academic hardiness in student intra-campus organization activists. The subjects of this study were 16 organizational activist students of the Dept. of Psychology at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta who were active in academics and active in the organization. This study uses a qualitative approach. The data collection used in this study is a semi-structured interview. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. Students who have academic hardiness are responsible, able to manage their time, able to solve problems, be able to accept consequences, and commit. Factors that influence are high motivation, mastery of previous experience, addition of competence and optimism. The impacts that are caused are, adaptation, balanced academic and organizational, and satisfying academic values. Conversely, the form of students who have weak academic hardiness, namely, lazy, ignorant and difficult to manage time. Factors that influence are low motivation, lack of experience and pessimism. The impact caused is, difficult adaptation, academic and organizational imbalance, academic values do not come out and stop from academics.
