Abstract
This research aims to describe the grammatical aspects of reference in learning narrative text writing in class VII students of Muhammadiyah 6 Surakarta Middle School and identify the relevance of using the grammatical aspects of reference in learning narrative text writing in class VII students of Muhammadiyah 6 Surakarta Middle School. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research. This research data is the result of narrative essays of class VII students, in the form of sentences containing grammatical aspects of references. The data source of this study was taken from students' essays. The data collection techniques used were reading and technical techniques noted. This research used content analysis techniques. The validity of the data used by researchers is triangulation theory. The results of this study indicate that the use of grammatical aspects of reference in the essay of students is found in two references, namely person and demostational references. The most found data in this student essay is a persona reference of 104 markers, including persona I as many as 47 markers, persona II as many as 4 markers, and persona III as many as 76 markers. Demonstrative references in this study were 76 data, covering demostrative time as many as 46 markers and demostratives as many as 30 markers. Based on the results of these studies it can be concluded that many use persona references in comparison with demonstrative references. The use of grammatical aspects in the teaching material can be used in the basic competence of points 3.4 which is to challenge the structure and power of the use of grammatical aspects and points 4.4 to present creative ideas orally or in writing with a focus on the use of language.
