Abstract

The process of making these brake canvas is using fiberglass, teak wood carbon, barium sulfate, calcium carbonate, brass (Cu+Zn) mesh 50, 60, 100 with polyester binder and tested by hardness testing standard ASTM D2240, micro photo, wear and tear and the coefficient of strenght on dry conditions, water wet conditions ,oil wet conditions, salt water and oil brakes. From the hardness test, the highest valueof hardness is variation of combinedbrass (Cu+Zn) mesh 100 is 89.85 and the result of friction test, the highest value for the wear and tear is variations of combined brass (Cu+Zn) mesh 100 with dry test is 53.904 mm ³/h, water test is 16.585 mm ³/h, oil test is 37.318 mm ³/h, watersalttest is 24.878 mm ³/h, oil brakes test is 99.515 mm ³/h and the highest value of friction coefficient on brass variation combined 100 mesh by dry testis 0.7063, water test is 0.6813, oil test is 0.6622, water salt test is 0.6652, and oil brake test is 0.6676. From the results of the discussion of the test, can be summed up the large granules brass(Cu+Zn) affects the value of hardness, wear and tear and coefficient of strenght on the brake canvas.
