Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of feedrate on the manufacture of handlebar stabilizers machined by Lathe Retrofit BV20L on aluminum material, on the surface roughness produced in units (Ra) which results are good, and the effect of feedrate variation on machining time. This research uses aluminum dural material and uses a Lathe Retrofit BV20L machine with mach3 control machining process carried out with feedrate variations, and surface roughness testing using a roughness testing device (Roughnes Tester Type TR200 with ISO standards). The results showed that the variation of feedrate resulted in different roughness levels in the BV20L Retrofit Lathe machining results, the level of surface roughness in the BV20 Lathe Retrofit machining process with aluminum material will produce a roughness level between N6 and N8. From the test results it can be seen that the best average roughness (Ra) of the feedrate variation, obtained in the 3rd specimen using a feedrate of 10mm / minute depth of cut of 0.3 mm with an average roughness value of 1,184 µm, and for average roughness ( The best total Ra from the feedrate variation obtained the best average roughness value at the feedrate of 10 mm / minute with an average roughness value of 1,242 µm. Based on the results of the average time measurement in the process of making handlebar stabilizers using Lathe Retrofit BV20L machine using a different feedrate the fastest time is obtained at the feedrate of 60 mm / minute with 8.58 minutes and for the results of the average noise measurement in the turning process using different feedrate noise the lowest was obtained at a feedrate of 10 mm / minute with 72.33 dB.
