Abstract
The swift flow of globalization has led to increasingly eroded values of national character education. Efforts to shape and develop national character can be done by educational institutions. This study aimed to describe 1) Islamic school culture, 2) the implementation of internalizing Islamic values through school culture, and 3) supporting and inhibiting factors for internalizing Islamic values through school culture in Sukansart Wittaya School Thailand. The type of this research was qualitative with a phenomenological design. The subjects of this study were principal, teachers, students, and the community. Data collection techniques used observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Data validation used source and technique triangulation. Data analysis techniques used interactive analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that 1) the school culture developed by the school can be observed by the artifacts, values, and beliefs that exist in the school. This school is Islamic. There are 13 school cultures which are habitus for stakeholders. The values believed by the school can be seen from 10 Islamic values/ muwashafat and expressions in the school environment and the assumptions of the stakeholders are realized from the school's vision and mission, 2) the Implementation of internalizing Islamic values through school culture is by Instructive Sequential Strategy which consists of the internalization, exemplary, habituation, and civilization which finally resulted in the creation of a religious atmosphere which was elaborated the process of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling, 3) the existence of positive support and relationships from stakeholders, and adequate infrastructure, although not optimal yet. Islamic schools in Thailand are the foundation in teaching and civilizing Islamic studies to Muslim students at school.
