Abstract

Tourist activities are necessity of modern human life. The development of the touris industry in Indonesia is being intensively developed because it increase regional income. BPS data in 2015 shows the foreign exchange from the tourism sector amounted to US $ 12,23 bilion and contributed 4,25% of Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, in some regions there are potential natural objects to be tourism objects that not yet developed, one of those object is a waterfall. In Batealit District, Jepara Regency, there are 11 waterfalls, some not yet developed to be tourism potential. This study aims to analyze the potential of waterfall tourism in Batealit Subdistrict and analyze development directions according to their potential. The method used descriptive survey research method and the data used secondary and primary data results from field observations. The results shows that in internal potential there were 4 objects with high classification, 5 objects classified as moderate, and 2 objects were classified as low. The external potential of all objects classified as moderate. The combined potential shows that 8 objects are in the moderate classification and 3 objects are classified as low. Banyu Anjlok Waterfall could used as a driving waterfall tourism in Batealit District because it’s value of internal potential is highest even though the it’s external potential value only in moderate classification. However, the value of variables in external potential can be increased by appropriate management and development ,while internal potential variables tend to be difficult to develop because they are natural.
