Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of teachers of Pancasila and Citizenship Education in instilling courtesy norms for students of class VII-B in Surakarta 6th Muhammadiyah Middle School in the academic year 2018/2019. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used in this study, namely observation, interviews and documentation. The validity of the data uses triangulation of data collection sources and triangulation of data collection techniques. Data analysis used is a flow model that includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing or verification. The results of this study indicate that the role of the teacher of Pancasila and Citizenship Education in instilling courtesy norms for students of class VII-B in Surakarta 6th Muhammadiyah Middle School in the 2018/2019 academic year by way of habituation, advice, guidance, direction, motivation and input to these students, other than that through activities among students in the morning. Constraints faced by the teachers of Pancasila and Citizenship Education in realizing their role are that there are difficult students to be guided and given input, these students repeat the action again in the future, besides that it is also the family factor of each student. Solutions in overcoming the teacher's role in Pancasila and Citizenship Education in instilling the norms of modesty. The solution to overcome the obstacles in instilling courtesy norms is by giving a warning if the students still do not want to be polite, the teacher will give a bad grade and will not even raise the class
