Abstract

Settlemens is primary need to live properly and comfortably to do daily activity, but population growth is getting bigger year by year causes increasing demand for land. The selection of land for settlement locations aims to: (1) analyze the suitability of the field for settlements in the District of Jenawi, Karanganyar Regency, and (2) analyze the direction of settlement development with field suitability classes in the District of Jenawi, Karanganyar Regency. This study used survey method, for sampling used stratified random sampling based on land units as the strata. Result of this study shows reasearch area has 2 class of field suitability namely class III (medium) and class IV (not suitable). The direction of settlement development in the area of this research in class III field suitability but in the development of settlements still concerns to the limiting factors to make comfortable and safe settlements.
