Abstract

Nowadays, the need of electrical power is increasing year by year. The use of equ ipment which needs electrical energy is the major cause of the increase of electrical needs. In Indonesia, most of power plants are using fossil fuel as the main energy to produce electrical power. Whereas, the use of renewable energy has potency to produc e of 441,7 GW, however, it can only produce 9,07 GW or in the other word it only produces 2% of maximum energy at recent. Water is one of renewable energy which can be used to run a power plant because of the abundance of water resources in Indonesia. The hydroelectric power plant (PLTA) and micro - hydro power plant (PLTMH) have a 2 profound potency to develop. Lodoyo dam in Blitar is one of dam which can be utilized to be PLTMH. The aim of this research is to know the water speed, water discharge, and potency produced by Lodoyo dam. The researcher uses google map coordinate or measures manually to know headnett of the dam. Meanwhile, to know the water speed, the researcher uses floating method by filling some water into 600 Ml of bottle up to be flowed to part icular distance on a known depth and length of the river. By using floating method, it can be noted the speed of water is approximately 0,238 m/s. Lodoyo dam has headnett of 10 meters in height, meaning it is potentially to build a PLTMH. Based on Jasa Tir ta I Public Company, water discharge of Lodoyo dam is approximately 10,918 m 3 /s, where it can produce about 856,917 kW of electrical power.
