Abstract

This study aims to analyze soybean production, soybean consumption, local soybean prices, prices of imported soybeans and exchange rate on soybean import in Indonesia. Using the time series data of 25 years (1993-2017), this data is obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), FAOSTAT and other related institutions. The analytical tool used in this study is Error Correction Model (ECM). The result of the study indicate that the short term and long term variables of soybean production have a significant negative effect on soybean imports in Indonesia; soybean consumption variable in the short term has a significant positive effect, while in the long term it has a significant negative effect on soybean imports in Indonesia; variable price of local soybeans and the price of imported soybeans in the short term have a negative and not significant effect on soybean imports in Indonesia, while in the long term it has a significant negative effect on imports in Indonesia. While the exchange rate in the short term has a significant positive effect, and in the long term has a significant negative effect on soybean imports in Indonesia.
