Abstract

Land suitability is a description of the level of suitability of a plot of land for a particular use. The increasing amount of land used to grow maize crops, often lacking in considering one important aspect in growing corn plants is evaluating land suitability. Land suitability evaluation was carried out to determine whether or not the land in the study area was used as corn cropland. This study aims to analyze the dominant land suitability factors for maize in Manyaran District, Wonogiri Regency in 2018 and to spatially analyze the level of land suitability for maize crops in Manyaran District, Wonogiri Regency. The methods used in this study is a survey method and descriptive analysis method using the results of matching each parameter. Each parameter that has been surveyed and carried out observations will produce a classification of matching results included in the land suitability class, including classes according to marginal (S3), inappropriate classes at this time (N1), and classes not suitable forever (N2). The results of the research can be known that the land suitability class in the study area is included in the marginal corresponding land suitability class (S3) with an area of 5727.96 ha, the land suitability class is not suitable at this time (N1) with an area of 1898.22 ha, and land suitability class forever with an area of 457.50 ha. The results of the limiting factors that are dominant in this study are soil depth, drainage, slope, and soil chemical properties.
