Abstract

Sukoharjo Regency is one of the Central Java regions which also called"Gamelan City". This name was obtained because there is an area in Sukoharjo which is the center of gamelan craftsmen, namely the village of Wirun. Gamelan crafts in Sukoharjo have been established since 1956. Gamelan marketing usually in the area of Java, Kalimantan, Bali, and abroad. The place of learning about gamelan and its history does not yet exist in Sukoharjo. Some local and foreign tourists who want to learn about gamelan must go to the homes of craftsmen. The existence of sukoharjo potential as "City of Gamelan" needs to be further developed. It is necessary to provide a place for gamelan learning as an indigenous culture of Indonesia, especially in Sukoharjo Regency. Javanese gamelan museum planning was chosen for education and gamelan learning as well as to advance the potential of tourism in Sukoharjoand improve the regional economy in tourism. Carrying the comfort audio approach concept, it is expected that the gamelan museum in Sukoharjo becomes an object of education as well as recreation that is able to create a space with good comfort audio and a new face for tourism in Sukoharjo.
