Abstract

Students' representation ability must be involved in solving mathematical problems. However, there is no research that reveals the representation ability of students in Surakarta Muhammadiyah 1 Middle School in solving the problem of building space. For this reason, the aim of this research is to describe: (1) The ability of visual representation of students' images. (2) Ability to represent students' mathematical expressions. (3) The ability of written text representation of students. This type of research is qualitative. The samples taken in this study were class VIII D students with 3 students. Data collection methods used are tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are: (1) Data Reduction (2) Data Presentation. (3) Withdrawal Conclusions. The results of the analysis of the data obtained are: (1) There are differences in representation ability of high, medium, and low categories of students.
