Abstract

Background: Empathy is an important factor in supporting positive relationships between nurses and patients. The better the nurse empathizes when nursing action, the higher the level of patient satisfaction. Therefore an assessment of empathy for Ners students needs to be done. Objective: To describe student empathy in community clinical practice according to cadre assessment in Baki District. Research Methodology: This research is a quantitative research with descriptive design. Sampling in this study used Purposive Sampling totaling 30 Muhammadiyah University Ners students who were carrying out community clinical practices which were assessed as many as 17 cadres. Measuring instruments using Empathy Scale. Results: The results showed that female empathy values (mean 62.65, SD 5.457) were higher than male empathy (mean 60.00, SD 2.690). Based on the social status of the economy with a high category (mean 59.24, SD 3.833) moderate (mean 63.75, SD 2.915) is low (mean 69.20, SD 2,280). The average value of empathy in general is that most students belong to the category (both 80% and moderate 20%). Conclusion: The level of empathy for Ners students as a whole is in the good and moderate categories.
