Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis genu is the most common type of joint stiffness with chronic degenerative abnormalities of the synovial joint that cause pain. For some people, genital osteoarthritis can have a negative impact on their lives or in activity daily life (ADL). In this case the modality given is infrared and isometric contraction. Objective: To find out about physiotherapy in reducing pain, increasing the range of joint motion, increasing muscle strength and functional ability in patients osteoarthritis genu sinistra. Results: After treatment for 3 sessions it was found that there was a decrease in T1: 4/10 tenderness to T3: 2/10, an increase in LGS at the knee joint and active T1: 00-00-600 to T3: 00-00-1000, for passive motion T1: 00-00-800 to T3: 00-00-1100, an increase in the strength of sinistra knee flexor T1: 3 to T3: 4+, to extensor left knee T1: 4 to T3: 4+, decrease WOMAC Index T1: 69/96 (weight) to T3: 44/96 (medium). Conclusion: It can be concluded that given infrared modalities and isometric contraction can help reduce pain, improve LGS, increase muscle strength, and improve functional ability in cases of osteoarthritis genu sinisra.
