Abstract

This study has three objectives. (1) identify the use of affix in the description text of students, (2) identify forms of error affix in the description text of students, and (3) identify the causes of misuse of affix and in the description text written by class VII A SMP Negeri 2 Gatak Tahun 2018/2019 lesson. This research method uses descriptive qualitative methods and interactive analysis techniques. The results of this study are, (1) the use of affixes, affixes used by students, namely, prefixes (di-, me-,ter-, ber-, pe-, ke-,dan se), suffixes (-an, -nya, -kan, dan ¬–wan), and confiks (ke-an, per-an, ber-an, me-i, me-kan, dan pe-an), (2) forms of errors in the use of affixes are, errors in the use of pre and allomorph prefixes, errors in the use of ber and allomorph prefixes, and improper writing of affixes, that is, in the prefix (di-, me-, ter-, ber-, pe-, ke-, dan se-), suffix (–an), and confix (ke-an, per-an, ber-an, me-i, dan me-kan), and (3) factors that cause misuse of student affixes, namely, lack of thoroughness, lack of understanding of affixation, inaccurate writing, being told but forgetting, and students still do not understand the affixes and are separated or combined.
