Riky Dwi Oktanto/A510140139; ESTABLISHMENT OF INDEPENDENT CHARACTERS OF CLASS 2 STUDENTS OF PADAS 2 STATE SCHOOL, THROUGH HOME AND SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. Thesis, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muhammadiyah University Surakarta. April 2019 The purpose of this study was to describe: (1) Implementation of the independent character formation of Class 2 students through activities at home and school, (2) Constraints in implementing the independent character of Class 2 students through activities at home and school, (3) Efforts to overcome implementation constraints formation of the independent character of Class 2 students through activities at home and school. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive method. Techniques for collecting data through interviews, observation, documentation. Data analysis techniques with interactive analysis. The validity of the data uses triangulation techniques and sources. The results of the study showed independent character formation at home (1) Providing guidance to children on the importance of independence (2) habituation of repetition (3) exemplary. Independent character formation in school (1) routine activities include (2) spontaneous activities (3) exemplary. Cooperation between teachers and parents namely (1) communicating through whatsapp, (2) making agreements to combat the impact of media use, (3) accepting criticism suggestions. The constraints on the independent formation of students at home are: (1) the misuse of gadgets and television, (2) the promiscuity of students when outside school or home, the constraints of forming students when in school (1) some students who do not understand the importance of independence parents' attention and affection, (3) pampering children. Solutions to overcome the constraints of independent formation at home, namely (1) limiting children to play gadgets and television, (2) supervising students outside the home environment, Solutions to overcome constraints of independent formation in schools (1) providing special supervision to students who are less independent, (2) appeal to give attention and affection (3) to urge not to spoil children
