Abstract

Klutuk Banana (Musa balbisiana Colla) is a banana plant that can grow in the wild, is more resistant to diseases such as fusarium (wilt). Banana Ambon (Musa paradisiaca L.) is a banana that has a weak body resistance which is easily attacked by pests and diseases. The anatomical structure of the plant consists of epidermis, cortex, endodermis and transport network, each network has different functions. This study aims to compare the anatomical structure roots of klutuk banana and Ambon banana. The method used is qualitative method with descriptive analysis. Preserved roots of klutuk banana and Ambon banana were measured using Advance series optilab. The results of this study were differences size anatomical structure of klutuk banana root and the ambon banana root. At the root of klutuk banana overall anatomical size is thicker at 28645 μm, while Ambon banana is thinner. Epidermis, xylem, phloem of klutuk banana roots are thinner, which are 315 μm, 139 μm, and 28 μm, while roots of Ambon banana are thicker at 355 μm, 202 μm and 32 μm. Cortex and endodermis of klutuk banana root are thicker at 4044 μm and 455 μm, while Ambon banana root are thinner at 1133μm and 284 μm.
