Abstract

The elderly phase is a condition where the body's ability to function begins to decline, such as metabolic processes, muscle strength, body coordination, including the balance system. This condition causes a high risk of falling in the elderly aged> 65 years. The balance of the elderly is influenced by several things including the high value of Body Mass Index (BMI) and abnormal shape of the foot. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of BMI and foot shape with dynamic balance in the elderly in Bhakti Surakarta Dharma Nursing Home. The type of research conducted was observational with a cross-sectional study design. The normality test uses the Kolmogorov-smirnov test with a normal distribution value if p> 0.05 and the results of the study are 0.200. The correlation test was used bivariate Pearson-product moment with the results there is a relationship if the value of sig. <0.05. The results obtained for the sig. value BMI is 0.032 and the shape of the foot is 0.011. The strong relationship of BMI with dynamic balance is 0.323 and the shape of the foot is 0.380. Both variables had a moderate relationship with balance.
