Abstract

The parents consist of a father and a mother who they have different characteristic so the role of a father in a family is as important as the role of a mother. To be a father in young age or teenager has its own challenges because teenagers are still in transition period from young kid until the beginning of adult. The goal of this research is to describe the role of a father in young age or teenagers with qualitative approach and phenomenology method. The informants are young man who become a father ,their ages is not more than 21 years old, the informants are 5 man who were chosen with purposive sampling. To collect the data the researcher used interview rather structural and the validity of data was got with member checking which is analyzed with thematic way. The result of this research states that the challenges to be a father in young age is because the less information to parenting the children, the disbelieve of the environment to the young father of his ability to parenting, the economic power and the parenting of the children depends on his parents.
