Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the factors of adolescent abuse of drugs, to describe future orientation, and to find out factors that influence future orientation. The method used is qualitative-descriptive whose data is collected through interviews with 6 informants. Determination of informants using purposive sampling technique. Informants are teenagers who have abused drugs. All of them are men of the age of 19-21 years in Sragen Class IIA Correctional Institution. The results of this study indicate that the factors that become the source of the occurrence of adolescents abusing drugs are invitation from friends, their own desires and work factors. Teenagers who experience drug abuse have planning in the future that leads to education and employment. They want to have a business and have a job in the future. Which one of them wants to continue their education. As well as there are informants who have a low future orientation because they lack balance in the plans they have with the efforts made. That way all informants stated that they wanted to recover from the abuse. Factors that influence future orientation are internal factors which include self-concept. The next factor is external factors, namely family (parents), gender, and age toward adults who will increasingly think of responsibility for the future.
