Abstract

Surakarta or Solo is a city that is thick with art and culture. Lots of local and international art and cultural events are held annually. In addition, there are often various kinds of workshops related to art and culture in Solo. Of course this attracts both domestic and foreign tourists to come and witness first hand the art events displayed, both traditional and contemporary (contemporary) and modern arts that have many western cultural influences. We can find traditional arts because solo has an influence from Javanese culture that is still tightly held. We can see the art from dance, performance and visual arts. But Solo also does not close the arts of other countries to be displayed in this city, especially art and performing arts which have developed for a long time. In the city of Solo there are several places or locations that are usually used as a place for holding events for art activists. In the actual case, according to the opinion expressed by UNESCO to the City Government of Surakarta that there was a lack of a place or creative space in the city of Solo that was adequate. There is a location that is used as the focus of structuring for the creative space so that it can meet the standards for holding international level events or workshops, the location is Fort Vasternburg.
