Abstract

The purpose of this study to determine whether there is a relationship between assertiveness with self adjustment. The hyphothesis is a positive correlation between assertiveness and self adjustment of first year university student’s. The subject of this research were 130 first year university student’s. the population on this research were student’s of class 2018 faculty of Psychology Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta total 324 people’s. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. Data collection tool in this study using a scale of assertiveness and a scale of self adjustment. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s product moment correlation. The result of the analysis of this research that there is a significant positive relationship between assertiveness between self adjustment . the higher the assertiveness, the higher the self adjustment. On the contrary, the lower assertivenenss the lower self adjustment. this is indicated by the correlation coefficient = 0,669 with sig. = 0,00; (p<0,01). Assertiveness included in the high category. Self adjustment included in the hifh category. Effective contribution (SE) assertiveness with self adjustment variable by 44%. This means there are 56% of other variables that can influence the self adjustment
