Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding for adolescent mothers requires special attention because the coverage tends to be lower than that of adult mothers. Husband support is very necessary to support exclusive breastfeeding. However, husband factors may influence the support that will be given to the practice of exclusive breastfeeding for young mothers. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between age, education, knowledge, and attitudes of husbands with exclusive breastfeeding activities by young mothers in Boyolali Regency. This research is quantitative research with cross sectional approach. The sample of this study was a husband whose wife was less than 20 years old who had babies aged 6 to 24 months and in the Boyolali Regency area 223 people were taken by proportionate random sampling technique. Data analysis using chi square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between husband's education (p-value= 0,032), husband's knowledge (p-value= 0,002), and husband's attitude (p-value= 0,002) with exclusive breastfeeding on young mothers in Boyolali Regency, but there was no relationship between the age of the husband (p-value= 0.617) with exclusive breastfeeding for young mothers in Boyolali Regency.
