Abstract

Rice husk biomass is one of the renewable alternative fuel sources. One of the uses of rice husk biomass waste is by making briquettes which are used as alternative fuels in the TLUD method gassification. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of variations in briquette adhesives (starch, liquid smoke, and oil) and variations of form of briquettes (cylinder and block) toward flame temperature, length of boiling time and thermal efficiency on the TLUD method gassification stove. The testing was done by taking the flame temperature data and boiling water temperature every 30 seconds in each variation. The total time of operation and the remaining fuel was recorded at each test. The results of this research show that the highest average flame temperature was found in the variation of beam shape oil adhesive for 755.05 o C. The fastest boiling water was found in variations in beam shape oil adhesive for 6 minutes. The best thermal efficiency was obtained in variations of starch adhesive for 16.66% Keywords: Biomass, Briquette, Rice Husk, Gasification, Top-Lit Up Draft
