Abstract

This study aims to 1) describe the form of prepositional errors in, from, and on the essays of class XI MA Muhammadiyah Hanging East Belitung, 2) to know the use of prepositions in, to and from the exposition essays of class XI students of MA Muhammadiyah Hanging East Belitung. The type of research used in this research is qualitative descriptive research. The subject of this study were all students of class XI MA Muhammadiyah Hanging East Belitung, and the object of this study was in the form of essays exposition of class XI students. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation techniques, test techniques, documentation, and document analysis. The results of the study concluded that the most common misuse of prepositions in students' essays was a preposition in 25 errors, from 1 error and to 6 errors. Conclusions from these results, the teacher must explain more clearly to students to distinguish the use of prepositions (prepositions) and the use of prefixes (affixes). So that students understand more and can write exposition essays using good and correct prepositions.
