Abstract

Manual material handling activities which carried out repeatedly (repetitive) for a long time can affect a health human’s body, such as the emergence of musculoskeletal disorders. UKM Cipta Mandiri is one of the plywood SMEs that produces a product called bare core. In the production process, UKM Cipta Mandiri still associated manual material handling systems and repetitive work activities. The method used in this research is Job Strain Index (JSI) method and the Assessment of Repetitive Task (ART) Tool to determine the risk of muscle injury as the effect of the working activities. Based on the results of calculation using the JSI method, out of 11 worker activities there are 5 low-risk working activities and 6 moderate risk working activities. Based on the calculation results using the ART Tool method, there are 6 working activities categorized as moderate-risk levels and 5 working activities categorized as high-risk level. The Study recommended to add and modify the design of tools, and change the placement of rest periods for workers in one shift
