Abstract

Flat foot is an orthopedic problem that is common in pediatric cases. Almost all children are born with flat feet and normal foot posture will develop in the early decades of life. However some children have legs with flat arches after 10 years. If the condition will be continou to be a worse stage it have an effect on the function of the foot of the sufferer. Flat foot incidence obtained by 299 respondents or 27.5% consisting of men and woman occured in Surakarta city. The flat foot is caused by several factors such as conginetal factors, neurology, conginetal, contditions, and structural anatomy. Flat foot can also be found in healthy without injury, this is caused by structural problems such as ligament tension and muscle strength. In early childhood, intrinsic and entrinsic leg muscle are usually strengthened by walking and running. This study aims to determine the relationship of flat foot to walking speed in children aged 10-12 years. this type of research is correlational with cross sectional approach with research design in the form of spearman Rho. The sampling technique used is the simple random sampling technique. The number of samples is 36 people. From the Sperman rank results, the results of ρcount are -0.481 with p-value of 0.003 <0.05 there is a significant relationship between flat foot to walking speed in children aged 10-12 years.
