Abstract

This study reveals the metacognition characteristics of students who have high mathematic logical intelligence, moderate mathematic logical intelligence and low mathematic logical intelligence in solving GAR problems more clearly. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects research consisted of three students in the third semester at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta of the 2018/2019 academic year students with high mathematical logical intelligence (S1), moderate mathematical logical intelligence (S2) and low mathematical logical intelligence (S3). Subjects are chosen based on the results of the work of the mathematical logical intelligence questionnaire. The techniques of collection data are questionnaires, tests, video recordings, field notes, and interviews. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions / verification. The data validity is obtained through validity and triangulation. The results showed that the metacognitive characteristics of students with high mathematical logical intelligence met the most characteristic indicators of metacognition compared to subjects with moderate and low mathematical logical intelligence.While the metacognition characteristics of students with low mathematical logical intelligence meet the indicators of the characteristics of the least metacognition. Students with high mathematical logical intelligence are able to solve problems according to solutions prepared by researchers and are able to write answers correctly. Students with moderate mathematical logical intelligence are unable to solve problems according to the solutions prepared by researchers but providing conclusions at the end of the solution. Students with low mathematical logical intelligence are unable to solve problems according to the solutions prepared by the researcher but providing conclusions at the end of the solution.
