Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of adding 20% of Black Tin (Pb) to aluminum casting on the quality of cast products for brinell hardness, chemical composition, microstructure and porosity. will affect the quality of the cast product. This study uses aluminum (Al) used or scrubbed with a weight of 2000 grams and an additional lead (Pb) of 20% of the weight of aluminum melted back using a smelting kitchen. The print media used is red sand. Hardness testing uses the ASTM E10 standard and Microstructure test using ASTM E3. The results of the brinell hardness test of cast products without mixture were 88,832 BHN, while the cast products with lead mixture were 20%, 98,599 BHN. Judging from the microstructure of the castings the most dominant element is Al and Si, where the production of non-mixtures has more Si grains than the lead mixture of 20%. From the results of testing the chemical composition there are 15 elements, with the most dominant element being Si at 8.3182%, Zn at 3.2731%, Cu at 1.9865% and Pb at 1.8517% while aluminum (Al) at 83, 74%. In cast products with a mixture of 20% lead has 15 elements, with the most dominant element Si is 7.7848% and Zn is 2.9240%, Cu is 2.2722% and Pb is 1.9746% while aluminum is 83.84 %.
