Abstract

People growth in a city made their activities became more complex. Their activities would raise demand of freespace in a city. The raising demand of freespace in a city would raise the land development. The land development in a city could be analized with 2 imageries data with a different capturing time. The goals of this research were to analized the direction of land development in Surakarta City from 2000 until 2018 and to analized what kind of factor who can made these area changed. The methods of this research were using an imagery classification with supervised and maximum likelihood method to mapping the area who changed from 2000 until 2018. While survey method was used to analyzed the factor that could make this area changed, this survey using an sample and interview method with respondent. There were 2 main results in this research. First, there were 5,825 km2 which equal with 12,51% areas of Surakarta City who changed from non building areas to building areas from 2000 until 2018. While there were 5,975 km2 which equal with 12,83% areas of Surakarta City who still became non building areas in Surakarta City, this change mostly directed to the North near with Boyolali and Karanganyar city. The other result of this research was 3 main factors in Surakarta City who could made this land changed. First factor was development from educational instantion who highly changed from 2000 until 2018. Second factor was industrial sector who highly changed in north of Surakarta City. The last factor who could made this land changed was citizen’s district. This factor dominating the result of survey method with 4 from 10 respondents told that their land changing because this factor.
