Abstract
ABSTRACT THE LONG RELATIONSHIP OF HEMODIALYSIS WITH IRON STATUS IN CHRONIC KIDNEY FAILURE PATIENTS By Lucia Fadilla Permatasari1, Arina Maliya2 Background: Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD) is a non-communicable disease that affects the kidneys, where as kidney organs require more severe damage due to increased glomerular filtration rate, so that it can be done by hemodialysis. Hemodialysis is a kidney replacement therapy to cleanse metabolic waste in the blood with the aim of extending and improving the quality of life for patients with chronic kidney failure. Patients with chronic kidney failure who are undergoing hemodialysis suffer from anemia, where anemia is one of the complications of chronic kidney failure caused by iron deficiency. For diagnosis, laboratory examination of sodium hemoglobin (Hb), Hematocrit (Ht) and Serum Ion (SI) can be performed. Objective : This study aims to determine the long association of undergoing hemodialysis with iron status in patients with chronic renal failure. Methods : The type of this study was descriptive retrospective using secondary data from medical records from April to December 2018 in the hemodialysis unit of the Sukoharjo Regency Regional General Hospital. Obtained 65 respondents who were the subjects of the study with purposive sampling technique. Results : The majority of CKD patients who denied hemodialysis were male (80%) with ages 39-59 years (72.3%) and the durations of hemodialysis of CKD patients is 1-2 years (53.8%). Conclusion: There is no long association with hemodialysis with hemoglobin, hematocrit and serum iron in patients CKD. Keywords: chronic renal failure, hemodialysis, iron status
