Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease that is related to quality of life. Quality of Life is an overall individual understanding of satisfaction and happiness in the life and environment around which he lives, measured using the SF 36 questionnaire. Improving the quality of life in patients with hypertension can be done by doing physical activities such as brisk walking and slow deep breathing. This study uses a type of research using quasi experimental design with two group pretest-posttest design. This research was conducted at the Ngundi Waras Tohudan Elderly Posyandu. The samples from this study which included inclusion and exclusion criteria were 24 respondents, then divided into two treatment groups namely slow deep breathing and brisk walking exercises with slow deep breathing exercises. Quality of life measurements used the SF 36 questionnaire. There was a significant effect of improving quality of life in both treatment groups using the Wilcoxon signed ranks test, p <0.05 in each aspect. This means that there is the influence of brisk walking exercises and slow deep breathing exercises to improve the quality of life for patients with hypertension.
