Abstract
There are several factors that influence the process of growth and development, one of which is nutrient intake that is fulfilled by giving breast milk exclusively from babies born to the age of six months. Breast milk contains Taurine, a type of amino acid found only in breast milk. Taurine functions as a neurotransmitter and plays an important role in the maturation process of brain cells. The ability of mental and motor development especially gross motoric children correlate with taurine concentration in infancy. Objective the research to analyze the relationship between exclusive and non-exclusive breastfeeding with gross motor development in infants aged 6-12 months. This type of research is observational with cross sectional approach. The number of respondents as many as 40 babies was selected by purposive sampling technique. Exclusive and non-exclusive breastfeeding status data were obtained using questionnaires, while gross motoric development data were obtained from Denver II measuring devices. Results of the research is most mothers were unable to breastfeed their babies exclusively by 57.1% and most of the gross motoric development of children was in the normal category as much as 50%. Conclusion the research there is a significant relationship between exclusive and non-exclusive breastfeeding with gross motor development in infants aged 6-12 months at the posyandu in the working area of the Makamhaji Health Center.
