Abstract
Safe food is food that is far from contamination. One of the influences in food selection is the level of knowledge. Knowledge can be obtained both internally and externally. Factors that can influence knowledge of internal and external is perception, motivation and external factors is environment, culture, media, and socio-economic. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge and behavior related to food safety in women who work in UMS. The type of this study is observational research, using the Cross-sectional approach. The subjects in this study were 70 female workers who were randomly selected using simple random sampling. Data on the level of education, knowledge, and age were obtained using a questionnaire, the knowledge questionnaire used was closed, which contained 22 questions about knowledge and 18 questions about behavior related to food security. The statistical test used is the Speraman Rank test. The results showed that there were 34.3% of mothers of young adults and 65.7% of middle-aged mothers. Then at the mother's education level as much as 55.7% were in primary education and 44.3% of higher education. Women workers who have good knowledge of 75.7% and those who are not good are as hard as 24.3%. There is a relationship between knowledge and behavior related to food safety in women who work at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (p = 0.001).
