Abstract

Background: Hypertension is better known as high blood pressure which will have an impact both short and long term. Without good coping, hypertension will result in an individual's quality of life worse than individuals who have normal blood pressure. Improving the quality of life can be done by improving the lifestyle by doing physical exercise in the form of brisk walking exercise and isometric handgrip exercise. Objective: To determine the effect of walking exercise brisk and isometric hand exercise on quality of life. Research Methods: This type of research is Quasi Experimental Design with research design in the form of Pretest-Posttest With Control Group Design. The sampling technique used is the Purposive Sampling technique. The number of samples is 30 people. Results: The results of the influence test in the treatment group and the control group obtained p-value 0,000. whereas in the difference effect test between the two groups, the value of the treatment group p-value 0.047 and the control group 0.048, which means that there are differences in the influence between the treatment group and the control group. Conclusion: there are differences in the effect of giving brisk walking exercise with the addition of an isometric handgrip exercise to the quality of life of patients with hypertension
