Abstract
The purpose of research this is to improve students’ critical thinking ability at economic learning through implementation of cooperative learning model numbered heads together (NHT). The type of this research was classroom action research (CAR) in two cycles. The subjects of this research were the teacher of economic and 36 students of X IPS SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta. Data collection techniques used observation, field notes, docomentation and interview. Data analysis technique were data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The result of research showed there is an improved students critical thinking ability at economic learning. It can be seen through the following indicators. 1) the ability to provide a simple explanation by focussing the question increased from before applying the treatment of 44,44% and after treatment became to 77,77%. 2) the ability to provide futher explanation by identifying assumption increased from before applying the treatment of 27,77% and after treatment became to 75%. 3) the ability to building basic skill by considering the credibiliy of source increased from before applying the treatment of 36,11% and after treatment became to 77,77%. 4) the ability to set strategies and techiniques by determining an action increased from before applying the treatment of 36,11% and after treatment became to 72,22%. 5) the ability to conclude increased from before applying the treatment of 30,55% and after treatment became to 72,22%. The conclusion of research this is an implementation of cooperative learning model Numbered Heads Together (NHT) at economic learning could improve students’ critical thinking ability class of X IPS SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta in 2018/2019.
