Abstract

Language development is one indicator of the overall development of children's cognitive abilities associated with success in school. So far there are still many people who are wrong in perceiving the general concept of language acquisition and development processes, especially among parents. The assumption that children have the ability to learn language naturally is still embedded in the minds of some parents. Delays in language can affect social personal life, difficulties in learning, even obstacles in working later. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the language skills of preschool children between a history of attending PAUD with a history of not attending PAUD. This type of research is descriptive comparative, which compares the language skills of preschoolers between a history of taking PAUD and a history of not attending PAUD using a DDST (Denver Development Screening Test) instrument and then testing for normality and obtaining abnormal distribution, then using the Mann-test Whitney Test. The sampling technique was cluster sampling, the number of respondents with a history of PAUD was 26 samples, and the group with a history of not taking PAUD were 27 samples. The results of the study of differences in language skills using the Mann-Whitney Test obtained p-value 0.009 <0.05, so it was concluded that there were differences in the language skills of preschool children between history of attending PAUD with that do not attending PAUD.
