Abstract

Sumba is an area located in the province of East Nusa Tenggara. Sumba itself consists of 4 districts, East Sumba, West Sumba, Central Sumba, and Southwest Sumba. Together with Central Sumba district, Southwest Sumba is a district that is still young because it is the result of the expansion of West Sumba district in 2007.Sumba is generally well-known for its sandlewood horses and also the crafts of its woven fabrics which are even worldwide. This ikat cloth is usually done by sumba women on the sidelines of their activities. For ikat cloth motifs, each district in Sumba has its own motifs and characteristics. For the typical ikat woven cloth in East Sumba, it has bright, striking colors with everyday life motifs such as war and burial of the king. While the West Sumba ikat fabric has a symmetry line. Fabric color is dominated by black even though there are also colored but not patterned. It is hoped that the construction of this craft center can be more attractive to tourists to visit Sumba. This positive impact can increase the income of Sumba women because they don't need to be confused anymore about where to sell their woven products. In addition, this can be used as an educational tourism facility to introduce woven fabric from the initial manufacturing process to becoming a complete fabric.
