Abstract
Population growth in Surakarta City, figure 0.565% per year. In addition to the Solo Raya region which is a buffer around Surakarta and combined in its entirety, its area is 130 km ² with a population of more than 800,000 people. Until now the number of houses built with the number of houses needed by people / guarantees reached 300,000 units for the city of Solo. This shows that there is still a shortage of housing in Surakarta, it is necessary to increase the efficiency of limited land use. Then to meet the needs of good settlements and in accordance with regional governance and land use spatial planning, housing and settlements need to be developed that line vertically. Increasing housing needs, especially in the type of vertical occupancy, have triggered providers to compete with as much vertical occupancy as possible in narrow land as efficiently as possible. This is what makes vertical residential design only to meet residential needs, and without regard to the influences that arise in social life socially. This is a factor in building a shared space, which is a factor in the lack of interaction between citizens, where public space also has a role in the form of community character. Indonesia is the basis for traditional village development. Traditional villages are the unity of nature, humanity and norms that have clear boundaries. Community patterns that are always maintained in the traditional social life of village communities. Village life is very intimate between one human being and another. On the other hand, culture is a culture with a unique kinship system that shows one's position and role in the spatial structure of architecture. The space in the village is not only based on physical needs but also must meet the spiritual needs of space users.
