Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out: (1) How the effectiveness of the use of inquiry learning models in improving students' critical thinking skills if applied in Economic learning, (2) How is the difference in critical thinking skills of students before and after the inquiry learning model on Economic subjects. This study included the type of classroom action research by drawing conclusions through descriptive methods. The subjects of this study were 36 students of class XI IPS 2 State High School 1 Kartasura. The object of this research is the problem to be studied. This study uses qualitative data. Data obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation. The validity of the data uses triangulation theory triangulation and methodology triangulation. This study uses descriptive analysis techniques, which include: descriptive analysis of learning activities, for example: percentage in the first cycle compared to the next cycle. The results of this study indicate that, using the inquiry learning model effectively increases students' critical thinking skills. This can be seen from the observation sheet of student activities when learning activities take place from each cycle. Before the action of students' critical 2 thinking ability was 31.23%, then after the first cycle and the second cycle it was increased to 91.67% of all aspects of critical thinking skills
