Abstract

CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) is one of the progressive syndromes that can reduce the quality of life of sufferers, this syndrome can also affect the lives of sufferers in the field of economics or health. The quality of life of CHF patients can be increased by self-control or self-management. Self management that is done properly will help CHF patients how to treat their disease better. The active role of patients is needed in independent self-care The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between self management and the quality of CHF patients. This type of research is quantitative correlation, which is knowing the relationship of the two variables. The population of this study amounted to 1210 CHF patients. The sampling technique uses accidental sampling, which in the calculation using the solvin formula obtained a sample of 56 CHF patients. This research was conducted in Moewardi Hospital in Surakarta in the Outpatient or Poly Heart Unit. This study uses the SCHFI and MLFHQ questionnaires which are re-tested for validity. This questionnaire consists of 20 statement items with an assessment using a Likert scale that is 1 = never, 2 = rarely, 3 = often, and 4 always. The results of the reliability of this questionnaire were 0.746 which is reliable, the validity test with 20 different respondents was declared valid with a minimum r table of 0.444. Validity test results are at r count 0.470 to 0.776. The research data obtained is then tested using the chi square test. Chi square test results show a number of 0.001 which means 2 significant. The higher the self management of CHF patients, the higher the quality of life of these patients. Every CHF patient is expected to improve the quality of their own self-management so that the quality of life of patients is better.
