Abstract

This study aims to: 1) Knowing implement character education through the content of civic education at primary school of Gayam 01 Sukoharjo. 2) Knowing the obstacles in the implementation of character education through the content of civic education at primary school of Gayam 01 Sukoharjo. 3) Knowing the solution in the implementation of character education through the content of civic education at primary school of Gayam 01 Sukoharjo. This research uses qualitative research type and the the design of this research is phenomenology. The subject of this research is head master of primary school Gayam 01 Sukoharjo, teacher class I, and students. Data collection techniques using interview, observation, and documentation. The validity of the data uses triangulation techniques and source. Data analysis techniques with interactife techniques, by use data reduction, presenting data, verification / withdrawal of conclusions. The results of the study indicate that: 1) A. Planning of principals and teacher in the implementation of character education by entering character values into syllabus, rpp, and teaching materials that have been instructed by the school principal. B. Character value instilled in student in the preliminary stage, religious are done through praying together, nationalism when singing Indonesian songs, student discipline must arrive at school on time, love to read students diligently go to the library. The core stage, the character values of cooperation, mutual respect for other people’s opinions, tolerance, caring for the sosial, friendly, curiosity, and hard work through group discussions. Closing stage, respecting the achievments of other, loving peace, and caring for the environtment. C. How to assess the implementation of character education in the cognitive domain through tests, affective domains with teacher observation sheets and coordination with religious and sports teachers, and psychomotor domains through process and outcome assessment. D. Methods in the implementation of character education through grup discussions and assignment. E. Media in the implementation of character education using LCD projector. 2) Obstacles faced, parents who are too fond of their children so student become not independent (independent), students have not done the task (the character of responsibility) is still crowded when learning to learn (character discipline). 3) solution, ask with coworkers, the teacher tells students to practice their own assignment, discipline students who are not disciplined. This study can be concluded that the implementation of character education through PPKn content can shape the character values of grade 1 student in primary school gayam 01 sukoharjo academic year 2017/2018.
