Abstract
This research aims to examine the effectiveness of the application of video learning media in improving the learning outcomes of class VIII students of Muhammadiyah 10 Junior High School Surakarta. This research was conducted in Muhammadiyah 10 Junior High School Surakarta with samples of class VIII A and VIII B with 47 students. Researcher uses qualitative data and quantitative data, while the data sources are secondary and primary. The research method is the experimental method. The design of the study is the pretest-posttest control group. Class VIII A as the experimental class and class VIII B as the control class. Testing the hypothesis using paired samples T-Test. The results of the test indicate that the learning process in the experimental class used video media was effective in increasing student learning outcomes by 20%, while the learning process in the control class used the lecture method was effective in increasing student learning outcomes by 10%. In conclusion, use of video media is more effective in improving student learning outcomes compared with using the lecture method.
